Company History
Sheahan Printing Corporation, a third generation printing company, initiated its family tradition in 1923 when Rodolph T. Sheahan, Sr. began his career in the printing industry working for Robinson Press. He had recently graduated from Woonsocket High School. Rodolph had a clear vision for the company and saw great potential for the business as a life long career. The company primarily sold its services to the growing mill industry in the Woonsocket area and printed from letterpress. In 1931, Rodolph bought a 50% share in the company. As the printing industry experienced a change in technology from letterpress to lithography, so did Robinson Press. In 1941, the company bought its first offset press, becoming the first in Northern Rhode Island to do so.
Rodolph Sr.’s sons, Rodolph Jr. and Paul, began working for their father in 1956 and 1958, respectively. Rodolph Jr. held responsibilities in sales and Paul in production management. In 1963, Rodolph T. Sheahan, Sr. became sole owner. The company's name changed in 1970 from Robinson Press to Sheahan Printing Corporation, reflecting the change in management. Rodolph Sr. owned and operated the company until his retirement in 1974, at which time Rodolph Jr. and Paul became owners. Paul’s sons, David and Kevin joined the business in 1986 and 1988, respectively. David worked in the estimating department and Kevin in customer service. Both Rodolph Jr. and Paul retired in 2002.
Today, Sheahan Printing is owned and operated by David and Kevin. The focus of the third generation is the high quality commercial printing market, producing catalogs, brochures, direct mail, annual reports, and newsletters. The company’s clients include graphic designers, advertising agencies, colleges and universities, non-profit organizations, and political and industrial printing.
